In spatial and movement research the use of the term `landscape ́ is often understood as something external to and independent of the body. Climate change, high dynamics in urban development and new social movements are asking for methods, to read, interpret, design and to choreograph landscapes as structures of transformation.
We believe that how the body interacts with the landscape shapes its structure simultaneously as the landscape informs the body. Questioning approaches and perceptions of movement, rhythm and sequence could lead to methods of perceiving and designing landscapes as performative processes.

The workshop is presented in the context of Hybrid Platform, an initiative of the Berlin University of the Arts and the technical University of Berlin, to support projects in research and education in the heart of Campus Charlottenburg Berlin.

‘GHOST revolves around the idea of arriving and the expectations behind it. The ‘final arrival’, as we imagined it when we started our journey, is not existing. Not in this piece, but also not in our world. This impossibility is precisely what we deal with in GHOST: the arrival which is at the same time a non-arrival. One can get to a place geographically, but confronted with it’s structures, we don’t know how to cope with it’s reality.
Starting from the idea of the non-existance of this ‘final arrival’ we stumble upon a question like: what does a goal mean in human life? No matter if it is a place or an object, we seem to have a desire for more or for something else. In this context; what is arriving? In the moment we arrive, our goals and wishes change.’

‘GHOST beschäftigt sich mit dem Moment des Ankommens. Aber das finale Ankommen, wie man es sich vorstellt wenn man loszieht, existiert nicht. Nicht in unserem Stück, und auch nicht in dieser Welt. In GHOST versuchen wir genau diese Situation zu betrachten, das Ankommen, das gleichzeitig Nicht-Ankommen ist. Es gibt einen Ort den man geographisch eventuell erreicht, aber vor seine Strukturen gestellt, weiß man nicht, wie man mit seiner Realität umgehen kann. Dass es das endgültige Ankommen für den Menschen nicht gibt, ist aber eine generelle Tatsache. Was ist für den Menschen ein Ziel? Es gibt dieses Bestreben nach mehr oder nach etwas anderem, Gegenstand oder Ort, das spielt keine Rolle. Was bedeutet dann also Ankommen? Wenn wir ankommen, ändert sich das Ziel.’

GUEST is telling about human cruelty, which tries do defend places and social systems with brutality and is asking how people react on threat and when despair and desire for safety are transforming into brutality. It is a meditation about the fear about our life and our possession and the quest for save places and a good living. The fight for survival in his contradiction, fragility and cruelty is reflected in stories from North Korea, Afghanistan, Nigeria and refugee homes in Berlin. But the piece is not about the others, it`s about us – about the care of those, who are looking for a better life.

GUEST handelt von der menschlichen Grausamkeit, Orte und Gesellschaftsmodelle mit Gewalt zu verteidigen und geht der Frage nach, wie der Mensch auf Bedrohungen reagiert und wann sich Verzweiflung und Verlangen nach Sicherheit in Brutalität verwandeln. Es ist eine Meditation über unsere Angst um unser Leben und unseren Besitz sowie über die Suche nach sicheren Orten und einem guten Leben. Der Überlebenskampf mit all seiner Widersprüchlichkeit, Zerbrechlichkeit und Grausamkeit spiegelt sich in Geschichten aus Nordkorea, Afghanistan, Nigeria und den Flüchtlingsheimen in Berlin. Aber es geht nicht um die Anderen, es geht um uns – um die Sorge aller Menschen, die ein besseres Leben suchen.

MEGALOPOLIS ist not a specific but a metaphysical place. The scene ist the city under the impact of globalism. The city is characterized by the illegibility of today`s megacities, born into chaos. Its features are dynamic at top speed, unbridled growth, decay and endless disbandment. The city`s density and tightness dissolve the borderline between private and public sphere. At the same time this infinity is forcing us in perceiving the city as a collage, which is created by countless biographic snips.

MEGALOPOLIS ist kein spezifischer, sondern ein metaphorischer Ort. Schauplatz ist die Stadt unter Einfluss der Globalisierung. Diese Stadt zeichnet sich durch die Unleserlichkeit heutiger Megastädte aus, die in das Chaos hineingeboren werden. Ihre Gesichtszüge sind ungezügeltes Wachstum, Zerfall und eine unendliche Auflösung. Dichte und Enge der Stadt lösen die Grenzen zwischen privaten und öffentlichen Räumen auf, lassen sie beinahe verschwinden. Gleichzeitig zwingt uns diese Grenzenlosigkeit, die Stadt als eine Collage wahrzunehmen, die aus unzähligen biographischen Schnipseln besteht.
